| Anub’Rekhan is the 1st boss of the Arachnid Quarter. Anub’Rekhan is one of the easiest bosses in Naxxramas so it is a perfect place to start out if your group or guild is new to this raid. Anub’Rekhan Level-?? Health- 2,231,200 ABILITIES
- Berserk
- Impale- Anub’Rekhan will target a random player and send a line of spikes out towards the player, hitting everyone in a straight line between him and his target. Players hit by these spikes will take - 4,813 to 6,187 (Heroic: 5,688 to 7,312) physical damage and will be knocked into the air, suffering reduced fall damage when they land.
- Locust Swarm -Every 80-120 seconds Anub'Rekhan will release a locust swarm that damages players within 30 yards around him and applies a stacking Locust Swarm that deals 875 to 1,125 (Heroic: 1,313 to 1,687) Nature damage every 2 sec. While the spell is active, Anub'Rekhan will move at 60% (Heroic: 75%) of his normal movement speed. Any players afflicted by the Locust Swarm will be pacified and unable to use spells or attack for the duration of the effect. A Crypt Guard will spawn immediately after Locust Swarm is cast.
In addition to the Crypt Guardian that Anub’Rekhan summons he also has the ability to summon corpse scarabs from any corpses, player (5 per) and crypt guardian (10 per). STRATEGYMake sure every one knows where to be and what to do. Once everyone is good to go the main tank can charge in and take Anub’rekhan to the back of the room. By this time everyone should be in position. Impale can happen at anytime except during locust storms so be ready for it. After a few seconds Anub’rekhan will cast locust storm. During the locust swarm no one can be around Anub’Rekhan, the DoT just deals too much damage for anyone to be near, tank included. So the tank will need to start kiting him around the perimeter of the room from 12 o’clock around to 6 o’clock then if he pops another locust storm kite back around to 12 o’clock. At the same time Anub’rekahn starts the locust swarm a crypt guardian will spawn and needs to be picked up by your off tank and taken to one of the 2 add tanking spots, whichever keeps him away from the locusts swarm radius. DPS needs to help the off tank kill the crypt guardians as fast as possible. Once locust storm has stopped and the crypt guardian is dead, DPS need to get back on Anub’rekahn. At this point another impale is coming along with a new ability called summon corpse scarab. This is now available to Anub’rekahn because he can only cast this when there is a corpse on the ground and since you just downed a crypt guardian he will utilize it. DPS the scarabs done and on back to DPSing Anub’rekahn until he is dead and only stopping DPS on the boss to help off tank and killing scarabs. TANKINGThis is your classic tank and spank fight. All the tank needs to do is keep his threat rotation up and when Anub’rekahn casts locust storm kite him from 12 to 6 o’clock along the outside perimeter. By the time he gets him down to 6 o’clock he should be done with locust storm and you can tank him there until he is dead or casts another locust storm. If he does cast another locust storm simply kite him from 6 to 12 o’clock and resume tanking him as normal. OFF-TANKING All the off tank needs to do is pick up the crypt guardians and take them to one of the 2 off tank spots depending on where the main tank has Anub’rekahn. You want to be far enough from locust swarm so that it doesn’t affect you and the tank isn’t going to kite Anub’rekahn into you while he has locusts swarming. HEALING There are a few things we really need to watch out for though. First, when Anub’Rekhan casts impale you want to make sure you top off the party after they hit the ground. Second, no one should be in taking damage from Locust Swarm but it happens so you will need to pay attention to people who may have stepped into its radius or to melee DPS that didn’t get out of the AoE of it in time. If you have only 2 healers then put one on the main tank and the other on the rest of the raid group. If you have 3 then split up the raid group between the 2 that are not on the main tank. DPSRanged Dps have it somewhat easy in this fight. All they need to do is, as soon as Anub’rekhan casts locust swarm a crypt guardian will spawn and your Off Tank will pick him up, the DPS can immediately kill it. If you are melee dps you will need to be running start to the 6 o’clock position when Anubrekan cast locust storm and be waiting for the main tank to bring him to you. Hopefully locust swarm will be over and you can start burning him down again. Same plan applies if he pops It again only this time run to 12 o’clock. In addition both ranged and melee DPS will need to keep an eye open for sets of scarabs that are summoned and help burn them down if they get on ranged casters.
